Free Reading Program & Socializing Colorfully Group
The reading class is open to all community members with developmental disabilities who wish to improve their reading skills. Courses will take place on Thursday afternoons from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at On-the-Move. Open to all levels, including beginning readers as well as those more advanced, the class will take place in a group setting as well as offer one on one tutoring.
Reading classes will be taught by our Executive Director Molly Mayo and Inclusion Specialist Sean Brennan. Both hold Master’s Degrees in Education.

Socializing Colorfully, a free social and educational group for individuals with developmental disabilities who are persons of color, is open to all community members of varied ethnicities with developmental disabilities who wish to expand their support network and gain a greater sense of cultural pride. We invite the participation of families and caregivers.
The group is led by Deborah Waggoner, our Community Support Specialist and parent of an African-American woman with Down’s Syndrome. Deborah knows first-hand the real life challenges associated with being a person of color who must navigate disability social services.
Socializing Colorfully Group: The fourth workshop of 2013 will take place in November, date TBA
Workshops this year have focused on the cultures of Guatemala, Ghana, and Japan. Call or email the office to reserve a spot in the next free workshop!
The Division/Clinton Business Association designated On-the-Move as the recipient of the Division Street Fair donation this year. Thank you for the $500 donation that will go to purchasing a sign for our office! (July 2013)
On-the-Move is now certified in the highest level of sustainability practices, the Gold Level from Portland Sustainability at Work Program. (June 2013)
